Vilken ney bör jag börja med?
Ney är en ändblåst flöjt som främst förekommer i mellanösternmusik. I vissa av dessa musiktraditioner är den det enda blåsinstrumentet som används. Ney har spelats i omkring 4 500–5 000 år, vilket gör den till ett av de äldsta musikinstrumenten som fortfarande används.
Den turkiska neyen är en ändblåst rörflöjt och en osmansk variant av den gamla neyen. Tillsammans med turkisk tanbur och turkisk kemençe är den ett av de mest typiska instrumenten i klassisk turkisk musik. Turkiska neyer finns i olika längder och varje storlek har sin egen tonart. Professionella musiker äger ofta flera neyer i olika tonarter för att kunna anpassa sitt neyinstrument till de övriga instrumenten i en ensemble.
Vilken typ av ney passar nybörjare?
Ju längre ett neyinstrument är, desto svårare kan det vara att få fram en ton, kontrollera instrumentet, nå fingerhålen och spela snabba rörelser. Därför rekommenderas nybörjare ofta en medellång ney, exempelvis Mansur eller Kız Ney. Den som lär sig blåsa dessa kan vanligtvis lättare gå vidare till kortare neyer. De är omkring 70–78 cm långa. Längre personer kan föredra Mansur Ney, medan kortare spelare kan känna sig bekvämare med Yıldız Ney eller Süpürde Ney. För barn kan Bolahenk Nısfiye eller Süpürde Ney vara lämpliga alternativ. I dag används Şah Ney ibland av mästare vid soloframträdanden. Dâvud Ney används sällan, medan Dâvud–Bolâhenk Mabeyni och Bolâhenk Ney nästan aldrig förekommer. Eftersom klassisk osmansk musik ofta framförs i tonlägen som passar Mansur, Kız, Yıldız och Süpürde väljer musiker ofta någon av dessa neyer. Hur påverkar neyens längd instrumentet?
Neyens längd kan variera beroende på rörets tjocklek och den invändiga kanalens bredd. Om ett neyinstrument tillverkas av ett rör med stor diameter blir det normalt något kortare, eftersom den invändiga volymen är större. Ett tunnare rör behöver på motsvarande sätt vara lite längre. Hi. I’m an interested beginner in learning to play the ney. I am a female, short in height (5’0) with small hands. Which one(s) do you recommend? I read the info concerning length and all of the lengths above seem very long and may require the longer arms of a taller person and larger hands.
